EVENTS
“Laundry Love” is a national organization who’s soul mission is to help low and no income families wash clothes.
Duluth is the 10th chapter in Minnesota, facilitated by CHUM’s “Stepping Up Program.” We serve 20-30 families weekly.
In collaboration with Lakeside churches and interested businesses or groups, we hope to build community through shared
volunteers and fund raising efforts to facilitate the free laundry days.
Laundry Love Fundraisers! These are Duluth fundraisers we will be hosting!
If you have art, baked goods, or craft you would like to donate, or know of artists who could donate
for the Laundry Love cause, Please invite them and talk with Susan Sage and Sue Boutin!

Laundry Love
Did you know over 70% of low-income families skip washing clothes because the money is needed for food and shelter?
Sign-up sheets for craft and bakery donations and Potato Bar volunteer opportunities will be up in the gathering space. Please consider helping out if you can. If you aren't able to help, cash donations are always welcome and appreciated. Please place donations in an envelope and label “Laundry Love”. Donations can be placed in the offering plates or dropped off at the church office.
Craft donations - please put in the library between Oct. 5-10.
Bakery donations - please plate items such as cookies, bars and candy in 1/2 dozen or dozen quantities, in clear plastic storage bags. Any baked goods early in the week can put in the freezer Note on the bag if the items include nuts, coconut or peanut butter.
Raffle - items on display and ticket sales begin before and after church service

I love Christmas” Meeting – Sept. 28th
Do you love Christmas? Maybe even Advent? Would you like to have input into how Good Shepherd celebrates Advent and Christmas this year? If so, please attend the “I love Christmas” Meeting hosted by the Experiencing God Leadership Team, which includes Katie, Parker and Pastor Lisa as they listen to what you love about Christmas/Advent services on Sunday, September 28th in the sanctuary following service. Be sure to grab a treat and coffee first.

We continue to move forward in the transition process and a big step has been made in Vision Council’s selection of the Call Committee: Nan Asperheim, Matthew Webb, Kelsey Sprowell, Joel Abenth, Frank Wanner, and Jodi Stacken. The Call Committee members agreed to the work and time commitment involved in selecting a new settled pastor. We will be commissioning the Call Committee at the September 14th worship service. The members will have their first meeting with Synod Liaison for Mobility, Susan Williams the first week in September to learn more about the call process and their responsibilities. Vision Council set a timeline to hopefully have a settled pastor in place by late spring/early summer!

A Special Congregational Meeting is scheduled for Sunday, October 26th following service.
All voting members are encouraged to attend and vote. Visitors may attend, but please refrain from voting. There are two votes to consider: approving revisions to the constitution and approving a sabbatical for Director of Faith Formation, Katie Rich.
To learn more about these topics, there will be forums in the Upper Lakeside Room in the preceding Sundays following service as follows:
Oct. 5th – Spiritual Direction and Sabbatical, hosted by Katie Rich
Oct. 12th – Constitutional Updates and Changes, hosted by Dave Larsen, Council President
Oct. 19th – Constitutional Updates and Changes, hosted by Dave Larsen, Council President (repeat of Oct. 12th)
