She has been called to a part-time pastor position at Knife River Lutheran Church and will also be a casual hospice chaplain with Essentia St. Mary's in Duluth. Stay tuned for more information.

May 31st is Graduation Milestone Sunday! High School Graduates and their families will join us, you may know all these youth from Sunday School, Day Camp, volunteering, Confirmation, and now we celebrate their accomplishments in school and bless them in their future! Congratulations to all!

May 31st is also Katie Rich's return from Sabbatical! We are excited to welcome her back and learn how her time away and look forward to Summer activities!

Flowers to Brighten our Church

The season is upon us to begin thinking about outdoor gardens and flowerpots to adorn our beautiful church. Some of us gardeners are excited about getting started and asking for your help.

Duluth winters can be tough on outdoor decorations, so it’s necessary to replace things from time to time. Some of our containers are broken as well as the cement bench out front, so we’re looking for donations to help replace these items. Creating and maintaining a well kept property portrays a welcome experience for our members, visitors and community. There are various ways to help, including a Thrivent grant, cash donations or volunteering. If you’d like to make a cash donation, please put cash or check in an envelope marked “Garden Fund” and bring to the office or place in the offering plate. If you have any questions or interest in donating a Thrivent grant, please talk to Susan Sage or email. 

We’re also looking for volunteers to occasionally help care for the shrubs and gardens around the church. If you are interested in donating a few hours to help this summer, please sign up in the Gathering Space.

LAUNDRY LOVE

Good Shepherd will be volunteering at Maytag Duluth 820 E 4th Street every 4th Tuesday of the month. We are establishing new connections to serve different populations of our city with a reliable business facility.

Cantor Parker’s teaching studio is open to children and adults of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd and the wider community, with a focus on disability and neurodivergence. Lessons use music as a steady structure for growth, meeting each student where they are. To learn more, share a referral, or support this work, speak with Cantor Parker after church or email

Flex Family Camp at Camp Hiawatha !ALL FAMILIES! - July 6-10 at Camp Hiawatha  www.vlmcamps.org

Last year, four families from Good Shepherd went to Flex Family Camp. What we loved about it: you pick how long you want to stay! You can come to camp for just a couple of nights, or all week! You must sign up through VLM (Voyageurs Lutheran Ministry) but sliding scholarships are available from Good Shepherd (pay what you feel comfortable with, and we can help cover the rest…) Please let me know if you have any questions or would like more information. SUMMER CAMP!  We also love VLM (Camp Hiawatha and Camp Vermilion) for all their summer camp opportunities. Whether that’s family camp, a full week at camp, shorter camp options for younger kids, canoeing, or hockey camp! They have great options, so if you are interested, please check them out.

 Mark your calendars for Saturday, June 27: this is CHUM's Rhubarb Festival here in Duluth. Our church has been asked to take the lead on kid's activities, arts and crafts and gaga ball all day. During the Rhubarb Festival, we'll set up the same inflatable gaga ball pit. But, I constantly need 2-3 people willing to *play* gaga ball, welcome kids to join in, teach them how to play, etc...
