Sunday, September 13th: Blessing of the Backpacks, Snacks for Schools, Brunch, etc.

Sunday, October 4th during worship, Pastor Liz Davis will be Installed as Pastor!

Join us for Pastor Liz’s Installation and a Celebration on October 4!

The installation of a pastor is a ceremony in which a congregation formally welcomes a pastor and commissions their work. It also serves as a symbolic culmination of the call process. Bishop-elect Taryn Montgomery will preside over a special worship service at LCGS on October 4 during which we will install Pastor Liz in our congregation.

LAUNDRY LOVE –Helping unhoused and low income families

Good Shepherd will be volunteering at Maytag Duluth 820 E 4th Street every 4th Tuesday of the month.  Maytag Day August 25th 8:30-11:30

Our days with Maytag Laundry have been going smoothly and we enjoy getting to meet our guests. Our next wash day is August 25th from 8:45-11:30. The only requirement is a smile.

 Our Blessing of the Backpacks worship will be September 13th

*and* we will be collecting and packing Snacks for Schools for the 5th year in a row AND we will be having a POTLUCK following the Service Project!

Join us for worship at 9:30a.m. and students, college students, and teachers bring your school bags! Katie and Pastor Liz will be leading a blessing for the new school year for you!

Congregational Service Project! SNACKS FOR SCHOOLS!

Directly after worship we will gather our Fruit Snacks, Granola Bars, etc… that will go out to local schools for teachers and staff to use as needed. Sometimes, that looks like kids arriving at school hungry, so a school nurse grabs a snack from our bin. Sometimes, that looks like a child who can’t afford “birthday treats” for the whole class, so a teacher grabs cookies from our bin. Sometimes, that looks like a kid who simply forgot a snack that day, but this way a teacher doesn’t need to give up their own snack or buy their own supplies. Always, that looks like our church showing up to feed, love, and support kids, teachers, and staff - right where they are - in a regular school day.

Please pick up what you can, bring it to church on or before September 13. Our goal is that our Blessing of the Backpacks Sunday is a blessing to ALL kids - not just the ones who are here.

But, we need everyone’s help - everybody!

When we are done packing the snacks, we will be having a congregational POTLUCK!! Who doesn't love a brunchy potluck?

Bring some food to share: fruit of veggies, appetizers, desserts, etc.

We will also have games and activities!

Did you notice the beautiful flowers as you came in today? We are Looking for some people to  water the flower pots at church. We are hoping to have someone come to church on Monday and Thursday, to water generously and taking off dead leaves.  The pots are under the roof so they will still need watering but if it's raining on your day just come the day after. Did you know that LCGS has a very active women’s group some of which like to sew. Our goal is to bring people together to connect, learn, have fun, and provide help to our neighbors. Sewing is not required. We work, play and learn together.

Our doors are open to friends, neighbors or just anyone who has time to join us. We have machines and cabinets full of fabric to create whatever is helpful for our community. Our donations have no boundaries.

We operate through donations from our “Women Together” group here at church, businesses and people who hear about us.

As a volunteer, you come when you can. You have no commitment other than showing up when you can. If interested, please leave your email and phone number so we can add you to our weekly mailing list.
